Strathfillan Community Development Trust are aiming to design and construct a small Bike Skills Park in Tyndrum Community Woodland.
The proposal which has received much positive support locally and further afield, is currently raising funds for the design phase of the project.
Strathfillan Community Development Trust are contributing funds from their local Community Gain Fund, and have also received 50% of what they need from Leader, however there still leaves them with some money to raise. As well as applying for other grant funding they are keen to pursue an element of the cost through Crowdfunding.
A Crowdfunder page, seeking £2000 towards the project has been launched, and is open to everyone and anyone to submit as little as £1 to help the Trust achieve their goal, and design a fantastic Bike Skills Park that can be used by their community and for visitors to the area.
The Strathfillan Community Bike Skills Park will provide fun, challenging and healthy outdoor exercise for our children. Although Strathfillan is located in a beautiful, rural part of Scotland, a very busy main road and a lack of other routes means it is very difficult for young people in the community to get out and enjoy it – especially by bike. Their community as a whole is very small and spread out and it is difficult for people to socialise informally. Having a meeting place where people can easily and safely walk and cycle to is essential. The Bike Skills Park will help children and young adults to see each other more easily; it will help mums and dads, grannies and granpa’s meet up and catch-up; it will help mums and dads spend healthy, fun time with their children
With a new cycle path children and young adults can get out more, and the Bike Skills Park will give them opportunities to get more exercise, learn new skills, and socialise more easily. But, without a great design it can never happen!
